Examples of Operating Systems:
DOS - used on IBMs
Mac OS - used on Apples & Macs
VMS - used on VAX machines (developed by DEC)
Ultrix - could also be used on the VAX
Irix - Used on the SGI’s that comprise the gl cluster.
Ultrix and Irix are known as “flavors” of UNIX
